ISO image installation?

With Snapt, we provide all our users with an array of different options on installing Snapt. From VM image for VMware, Hyper-V and also ISO installation for bare-metal installs.

Below we’ll take a look at the installation process for getting the Snapt ISO running.

For all our available images, have a look at https://downloads.snapt.net

Step 1 – Language Selection

The first step in the ISO installation process is to select you’re preferred language.

Step 2 – Installing Snapt

The 2nd step takes us to the main screen option. From here, we have got a few options, Install Snapt, Test Memory, etc. But we’ll be selecting “Install Snapt” and pressing enter to continue

Step 3 – Keyboard layout Selection

The installer will now ask us to select the keyboard layout before we continue to enter any text or numbers into the fresh install.

DHCP Network Configure

Please follow the instruction as per your network setup.

Step 4 – Hostname

If your network is DHCP, you’ll be presented with the option as seen below to enter your network name. We recommend giving it an easy to identify name on your network.

After you’ve entered your preferred hostname, we’ll tab down to “Continue” and press enter

Step 5 – Proxy Setup

If the Snapt installation is behind a proxy server, this is where you’d populate the necessary details in order for Snapt to connect via your proxy server to the internet.

If you do not have a proxy server, you can leave the textbox empty and continue

Step 6 – Finishing Installation

Now that we’ve configured all that is necessary for the installation to continue. The automated process will take over from here by installing Snapt onto the HDD.

Please note: The installation will reboot a few times during the installation process.

Step 7 – Installation Completed

When everything has completed installing, you’ll be presented with the “SNAPT CONSOLE ACCESS”

From here, you can manage the installation via the CLI

Step – Getting your IP address

With a DHCP deployment, your IP address of the VM will be issued automatically, and to get the IP address of this fresh install of Snapt, you’ll need to key in the following command on the CLI interface

getipaddress

The above input will display your first IP address of the system, and you can now use the output IP address to access your Snapt UI from your browser by adding port 8080

xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx:8080

Static Network Configure

Step 4 – No DHCP Network

If your network is not DHCP enabled, the installation process will halt on the “Network autoconfigation”. But no worry, as we’ve made provision for manually network configuration.

We’ll process to press enter to continue with the manual process

Step 5 – Entering your static IP address

We’ll now select “Configure network manually”

Next, please key in your static IP address including your CIDR netmark.

Step 6 – Gateway

The next screen will ask us to confirm if the gateway IP address is correct as calculated from the IP address and CIDR. If the gateway is incorrect, you can now change it before tabbing over to “Continue” and pressing enter

Step 7 – DNS/Nameservers

The last step in the manual network setup is to define your DNS/Nameservers on your network.

You can add more than one by just making sure you have a single space between them.
