What is the Snapt Aria Cache
The Snapt Aria Cache module is a powerful, feature-packed web cache and frontend for the cache server. Among many features, it includes reports, monitoring, a full configuration editor and much more. Caching is especially useful as it serves static content faster than requesting it from a web application, for example as it bypasses database queries.
Below is a quick and simple setup guide for the Snapt Aria Cache.
Basic Snapt Aria Cache Setup
After you've installed the plugin, you can go to the Cache Dashboard. You will see that the Snapt Cache is not running. This is because you first need to configure the cache.
Step 1: Click on Cache. You'll then be required to configure the Cache plugin
Should you not be able to continue with integration, you'll first need to install "squid" on your system.
Edit any paths that are different on your system
Step 2: Configuring the Cache Plugin. We will be making use of the wizard.
Wizard Step 1 / 6
First, you'll be able to set your preferred listening IP's and ports. Default is "All"
This section allows you to set custom cache timeouts. Should you wish, you can change these settings according to your needs. You may leave this as default.
This section allows you to set or change Domain Options according to your needs. Please note that you are required to add DNS Nameservers, or you may use the "Use OpenDNS" button to populate the field.
Wizard Step 2 / 6
This section will allow you to set custom limits for your cache. You may leave this as default and commit.
Wizard Step 3 / 6
The cache directories section allows you to create and set the location where cached content will be stored. Please ensure this directory has read+write permissions set.
Wizard Step 4 / 6
Under Logging Options, you'll be able to set and configure various logging options based on your requirements.
Wizard Step 5 / 6
This section of the wizard will allow you to set up your error pages. You may choose to use the existing pages or create your own. You can also change the logo to your own brand image.
Wizard Step 6 / 6
Here you have the choice to let Snapt Aria manage your ACL's or choose advanced mode if you prefer to manage them yourself.
After you've completed the wizard, you'll be presented with the following screen below. If all of your settings are correct and displaying green you can click "Finished".
Now it's time to start your cache engine by clicking on the "Start Cache" button as seen on the screenshot below.
The Snapt Aria UI should report "Cache started successfully" if all is in order.
