Windows (NTLM) authentication fails through the Load Balancer

NTLM authentication is not HTTP protocol compliant but it is used by some older Outlook and Windows client applications. The Snapt Aria Load Balancer provides 2 options for supporting this use case:

  1. Add the following custom configuration to the group or frontend/backend pair. This is configured under the HTTP Options tab of the group or frontend/backend settings. This maintains a connection to the backend server per client as opposed to creating a connection per request which is typical of HTTP/1.x protocol communication.

  2. Switch your virtual load balancing group to operate in TCP mode instead of HTTP mode.

  3. Save any changes and reload the Snapt Aria Balancer.
