Snapt Aria ADC Full Setup Guide

To install a full Application Delivery Controller solution, please follow the instructions below. Please do note, that this guide is for the ideal full ADC use, and your use case might not require the use of the Accelerator or WAF modules.
The plugins can be installed by navigating to Setup -> Modules & Plugins -> Add Plugins.
Once you arrive on the modules and plugins page click on Add Plugins
And you want to click install on the following plugins.
Snapt Aria Load Balancer
Snapt Aria Web Accelerator
Snapt Aria Web Application Firewall
Step 1: Configuring the Load Balancer
Head over to the load balancer dashboard where you will be prompted to use the "Create a load balancer" wizard to configure your first virtual load balancer by following the prompts that are provided on the screen.

Below you'll find the 5 common use cases that can be configured using the quick setup wizards. For our use case, you'll be selecting the "Create HTTP". You can also create your own custom group, or a Frontend/Backend split depending on your specific use case.

Configuring your Group
Below you'll find a screenshot of the information that we need to populate in order to create our first group. Let's break down all the information.
- Group Name: We recommend giving the group an easily identifiable name. This name will be used within the UI and reporting section.
- IP Address: For our use case, we want to change the IP address and select "127.0.0.1"
Why localhost/local loopback IP address?
The reason why we are selecting "127.0.0.1" as the Load Balancer's IP address is to free up our primary IP address of the system. This primary IP address will be bound to our Web Accelerator frontend. There are two other reasons why we are doing this:
a) We are forcing users to go through the Accelerator + WAF (For security)
b) We avoid IP clash occurring (IP:Port) Whereby two processes trying to listen for traffic on the same IP:Port
- HTTP Port: For typical HTTP traffic, we'll use port 80. You can also change this to something else should you wish.
- Web Servers: Your backend/web servers to which we're Load Balancing inbound traffic too.
When you're done completing all the fields, proceed to click on "Add Wizard Group"
Start/Reload the Load Balancer
If this is your first time working with the Snapt Aria Load Balancer, you might need to start the Balancer for the first time. This can be done by clicking on "Start Balancer" button after adding your newly added group.
If your Load Balancer is already running, you'll need to perform a reload. This can be done from the top right notification menu, or from the Snapt Load Balancer > Start/Stop tab and then by clicking on "Reload"

Step 2: Configuring the Web Accelerator
Head over to the Accelerator Dashboard and click on "Create an Accelerator" or use the shortcut.
Below we have the two wizards we can use on the Web Accelerator. HTTP traffic and HTTPS traffic (With SSL Offloading)
We'll be making use of the HTTP wizard for our example use case.
Next, let's discuss the below screenshot with the options we have for our HTTP Frontend on the Web Accelerator:
Frontend Name: We advise changing this from the default to something that is more easily identifiable by you.
IP Address: This is where we will be selecting the IP address on which the Accelerator will be listening on for HTTP requests.
HTTP Port: By default, for HTTP base traffic, Port 80 is populated. For HTTPS traffic, the wizard will auto-populate port 443
Enable WAF (Only displayed if WAF module is installed and enabled) Should you wish to enable the WAF on this frontend, simply click the dropdown and select "Enable"
PageSpeed can be enabled here in the same way as the WAF
Cache can also be enabled here in the same way as the WAF
Upstream Selection: We can either specify that we want to make use of the Balancer to sent traffic upstream and then select the group or frontend from the dropdown further down.In our example use case, you'll be selecting the Balancer, and then selecting the group we created earlier on the Load Balancer
Or you can also select "Specify" and manually enter the IP address and port to which traffic should be sent further upstream
Now you can we've configured all the above, we can proceed to click on "Add Wizard Frontend"
Start/Reload the Web Accelerator
If this is your first time working with the Snapt Web Accelerator, you might need to start the Accelerator for the first time. This can be done by clicking on "Start Accelerator" button after adding your newly added group.
If your Web Accelerator is already running, you'll need to perform a reload. This can be done from the top right notification menu, or from the Snapt Accelerator > Program tab and then by clicking on "Reload"

Step 3: Web Application Firewall (WAF)
The WAF will now be running when the web accelerator is started and you can select the WAF drop-down menu which provides you with a number of settings to choose from for configuring it more to your liking.
